"The Franklin Aero Club"

EAA Chapter 1377 is headquartered at Franklin Municipal Airport (KFKN) in Franklin, Virginia

We are a group of aviation enthusiasts with a wide range of backgrounds and experience.  Our common interest is the joy and thrill of flight.  We hope to further everyone's understanding of all aspects of aviation.  Educational Programs, Projects, Community and Chapter Events are all just part of being a member of the Franklin EAA Chapter.   Join us!

"Our main goals are to have fun, make friends and at the same time educate ourselves and the community"

You don't have to be a pilot to join EAA, you just have to love aviation

- From your Webmaster -

The  1377 website is being updated after a year of little to no maintenance.  What I need to finish it with is you.  For each of these pages, you can contribute something to make this website a useful chapter tool and a recruiting mechanism (it is how I found this chapter).  I need you each to please send me whatever you have - digital or not - I have a scanner, to fill in the blanks on the site.  Once finished, I am hoping it is a web site the entire chapter can be proud of.  So here is what I need:

- Newsletters - Simple.  Provide the newsletters with articles, pictures and ideas that can be used to build them each month.  The latest posted newsletter is the most fluid document on a web site.  If you were wanting to see if this chapter was the place for you, you would read the latest newsletters to see if you were a fit and if there was any activity going on.    Please also send me any pictures or articles so that I can post "stuff" as well.

- Events - Another simple.  If there is a chapter event or something that a chapter member did, I want to capture it here with test and photos.  You do not have to write a story just get us the stuff to make a story.  This of course ties in to the newsletter editor as well.

 - Calendar - I want to build a calendar that is eventually 12 months out.  If you know of any activity where the chapter may be involved, please send it to me.   If there is a link to an event website ,   pass that as well.  Each calendar event should be able to have a link to another piece of information - Young Eagle Day will take you to the chapter young eagle page and so on.

 - Members - Here is the big one I want to attack this month.  This is a complex page but I think will be a dynamic page.  You can provide as much information as you want published.  Every member will have their own "area" on the page.  This page has several parts. 1) Your name - linked to an email address if you choose. (no phone numbers).   2) A short bio - what you fly or want to fly or flown or owned, where you fly, how long you have been flying, how long in EAA, what do you do in the chapter, ratings, experience in building, restoring aircraft, etc.  One good paragraph is all I need.   3) a good - read close-up image of you.  Not a shot of you and your plane with you as the long dark spot in front of a huge white plane (you know the type of photo I am talking about).  I am taking head and upper body type.  My goal is to have a nice portrait shot of everyone smiling while they are actually in the air flying or flying in an aircraft.  Just a minor thing but it shows the public that yes, we do fly for fun. (note: this may involve yours truly having to do the photograph of said aerial shot.  Thanks in advance for allowing me to help fill any empty seat you may have next to you or behind you (except for Cubs  Buz ).   4) A good clean image of your plane in the air and/or on the ground.  I will have room for up to five plane images per person with a link to your own page if necessary s do not be shy.  5) Pictures of your current or past projects.  Of course any words to go along with all these images would be great!  I am hoping you can load up some images on the reply to this email and get me started.  I WILL be bugging all of you at every meeting and event so a big thanks to those that do this sooner.

 - Leadership - will include the names and photos of the Board of Directors and links to all of the documents the chapter uses.  I need all that.  I have the by-laws and the membership survey.   That is it so far....

 - Hanger Talk - this is the fun one.   This is where anyone can send me anything (aviation related and clean enough for my kids to see) and I will post it.  Major categories include; 1) The bookshelf - here we will post aviation books that chapter members have read and can recommend.  I will even do the hard parts for you, just give me at least a one-liner about what you thought about the book.  I will post a picture of the book and an outline.  Simple again!  2)  Weather - the start of what could be several pages of interest to pilots - FARs AIM, WX, whatever.  3) Technical Articles - these will be managed by our Tec counselors.  If you want to see what can be done in this area - check out the Chapter 1000 web site!

 - What is EAA - A local guide and links to cool EAA stuff

 - Young Eagles - Dedicated to our local young eagles program with pictures of the events (I have none right now!) and "plane talk" to show kids how planes fly.  I hope to expand the graphics on this page in the future.

 - Links - we all have those flying links we love, let's capture them here.
